Abstract:
Idea of Industry 4.0 is presented as a next step in our development. The age of intelligent machines and full automation. This process will have an impact on economic development, but also on structure of labor market. Industry sectors are the most exposed to the changes brought by Industry 4.0. Mainstream publications like Forbes tries to predict which jobs will become obsolete due to automation. (Expert Panel, Forbes Technology Council, 2019). Among them are warehouse and manufacturing jobs, production line etc. The purpose of this research is to analyze the relation between employment in the industry and services and technological progress in United Kingdom. Additionally, there will be presented a wider context of economic growth by using GDP per capita as a measurement of it. All datasets are from World Bank database. Vector Aurogression was chosen as a method. Gretl software was used to perform the the study.
