Abstract:
The article is devoted to global antibiotic production and consumption across countries and connected with this costs of nearly untreatable infections caused by multi-drug-resistant organisms. In this study trends and drivers of antibiotic consumption in LMICs, HICs countries and the impact of TNCs in its production and distribution was shown. Analyzing the risks of global antibiotic use in food animals growth, the authors show that antibiotic resistance is no longer limited to being a public health issue but is also gaining traction as an important investment risk factor. Among the proposed measures, there is shifting consumer demands, rising investor pressure which will push companies to adapt sustainable business practices better managing antibiotic use across supply chains.
