Impact of Wheel Transport on the Air Quality in the Urban Canyon – Case Study of Krakow

Abstract:

A three-year analysis of data from actual measurements of gaseous (NOx and CO) and particulate (PM2.5) pollutants inside the city street canyon in Krakow (Poland) was presented. The measurement results from the analysed period from May to September show the impact of transport on the dispersion of pollutants. In order to check the possibility of predicting air pollution, the OSPM model was used for testing the level of contamination. It was used for direct modeling of measured pollutant concentrations in a street canyon. The results of the research on air quality within a street canyon have shown that all sources of emissions in its area should be taken into account, and the impact of individual meteorological factors on the state of air pollution should be considered.
