The Impact of Transport Infrastructure on the Success of Humanitarian Operations

Abstract:

This article focuses on the issue of providing humanitarian assistance in terms of transport infrastructure and its availability. A closer examination of selected two countries: Nepal and Haiti, where the earthquake occurred, which subsequently caused a humanitarian crisis. The authors focus on the cycle of humanitarian logistics management for immediate response of local governments and foreign aid and related hazards affecting the rate of distribution of humanitarian aid, the coordination of humanitarian operations and transportation to the affected regions. Furthermore, comparing the types of transport mechanisms, the state of the transport network, transport capacity and its overall effectiveness in humanitarian crisis.
