Implementation of RPA Projects with AI – A Case Study based on the Implementarion of UiPath AI Center in a Manufacturing Polish Company

Abstract:

The aim of this article is to present the specifics of implementing projects related to enterprise process automation using RPA and AI technologies. A literature review from the last 20 years and a case study method were used. Among the key conclusions, it was determined that the characteristics of an RPA and AI project implemented in an enterprise depend on the company's advancement in automation, as the development of RPA automation in an enterprise is evolutionary in nature. RPA and AI projects require significant collaboration between IT and business teams. In addition to project activities, such projects should include a user learning phase, as the technological capabilities of RPA and AI are not yet fully known to the business participants in the project, and sometimes constitute limitations in defining requirements and accepting functionalities. Agile methodologies or traditional waterfall methodologies with agile elements are best suited for implementing RPA and AI projects. The original value of the article lies in the description and analysis of a business case involving the implementation of an automated invoice processing process using UiPath RPA and AI, which represents one of the first such deployments in Poland.
