Abstract:
Knowledge management represents a topical issue, in which the concept of knowledge intensity belongs to its inevitable components. Knowledge intensity itself can be perceived at various levels including for example the individual, occupational, organisational or the national one. Currently, the research focused on its identification, evaluation and measuring is necessary in pursuit of its positive impact on resource allocation and the increase of competitiveness. This paper aims to introduce especially the fundamentals of knowledge-based industries and services which are prevalent in today’s economies. Their significance and specific characteristics are discussed together with the implications for practical improvements.
