Abstract:

Climate change represents a major issue for mankind as it directly affects its activity. One of the major activities that affects the amount of CO2 emissions is represented by transportation. Thus the purpose of this paper is to explore how CO2 emissions from transportation can be reduced. Therefore the authors used the Engel Granger methodology in order to explore the long term relationship between the CO2 emissions and freight transportation; if data were not suitable for this kind of study, the authors have chosen to explore correlations. Next, environmental best practices within the transportation area in Romania have been analyzed, in order to have a clear diagnosis on the know how gathered so far in reducing CO2 emissions from transportation. Finally authors’ recommendations were stated.
