Individual and Team Creativity, Leadership style and Business Performance among SMEs in UAE: Proposed Framework

Abstract:

The Government of UAE conducted many programs and incentives to support SMEs continuity. However, it seems that the on-going situation is not mapped with the desired objectives. As some statistics supported with some research finding, shows that Emirati citizens have a lower motivation to start SMEs business, and there is uncertainty of success due to lack on innovativeness and leadership qualities. In addition, despite the success story of SMEs, they also faced many challenges including creativity, synergy and technique implementation, helping make the business attract attention, leadership, society, tactic, placing your employees first, procedures and units, productivity, evaluating performance. This study is to explore the impact of individual creativity and team creativity on the business performance; with consideration of the moderation effect of leadership style among SMEs in UAE. The proposed conceptual framework of this study has individual creativity and team creativity as predictors of business performance. In addition, leadership styles, six styles, are examined as moderators one by one to evaluate the leadership style that have highest significant change in the relations between creativity factors and business performance. It is hope that the proposed framework can be tested to evaluate current scenario of creativity, leadership style and performance of SMEs in UAE.
