Abstract:
The countries of South America are involved in a series of integration processes through the development of Infrastructure for Development. One of the intergovernmental organizations concerned in this regard is the Union de Naciones Suramericanas (UNASUR, Union of South American Nations), established in 2008 and in force since 2011. UNASUR is made up of Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela, and its objective is to build, in a consensual and participatory manner, a space for cultural, social, economic and political integration and union among its peoples, giving priority to infrastructure and other elements such as energy, political dialogue, social policies, financing and the environment, among others, with the intention of eliminating socioeconomic inequality, achieving social inclusion and citizen participation, strengthening democracy and reducing asymmetries within the framework of strengthening the sovereignty and independence of the States.
