Abstract:
Evidence abound that the levels of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) adoption as well as financial depth differ across Africa’s sub-regions (Central, East, North, Southern, and West Africa). Thus, this study comparatively examines the trend of ICT adoption and financial depth, hence, presenting statistical facts within Africa and Africa’s sub regions to develop a positional argument on the state of affairs together with its implications. The data for the analysis is sourced from the World Development Indicators of the World Bank and utilises statistical packages for the collation and characterisation of the data. The outcome of this study will contribute to knowledge information on Africa’s financial depth and ICT adoption, hence, spurring the need for the development of both the financial and the ICT sector by different stakeholders.
