Abstract:
The development of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and their wide dissemination globally has prompted several researchers to examine the impact of the new standards in terms of additional informational relevance. If the adoption of IFRS tends into ensuring transparency, comparability, and consistency in financial information across national boundaries, many studies conducted in different countries have found conflicting results that do not clearly support the conclusion of the superiority of IFRS compared to other local standards. Thus, this document undertakes a comparative analysis of the disparities and ramifications of IFRS in contrast to local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). A particular emphasis is placed on Morocco's transition to IFRS. Through a meticulous examination of comparative studies and a discerning exposition of Moroccan-specific challenges and benefits, this study aspires to furnish a comprehensive and nuanced analysis.
