Initial research on security aspects of mobile devices used by elderly people – Polish case study

Abstract:

Elderly people, as a group of mobile device users, difler significantly from other age groups. Acquiring knowledge of how they look at specific issues can he helpful in the process of designing the devices and appli- cations themselves. This article deals with broadly understood security, which concerns the device itself and the way it is used. The group of se-niors was asked to answer 6 basic questions in this area. These questions concern, among others: the importance of data on the device, the way the device is unlocked and the question about receiving SMS notifications and links in the context of phishing. The responses received and their discussion suggest that not all users of mobile devices in this age category are aware of the threats awaiting them.
