Innovation – A Lead Determinant of Corporate Performance

Abstract:

Performance management and innovation represent key areas of interest in the scientific academic world and on the market. Specialists from universities and top tier companies are routinely looking for ways of improving performance and accelerating the ascending trend. When talking about performance and innovation, the image which takes contour is the one of excellence, remarkable results, progress and novelty. The complexity of the subject goes beyond the practical area of a single department, being recognized on the management side and in the dedicated literature. Performance, which is a measure of success in its various forms, could always be found in the attention of the management while the idea of novelty, progress and constant improvement needs to be present at all the hierarchical levels, being available in a top to down approach - starting from the management and moving on the lower levels of the hierarchy, but also on the other way round, good ideas coming from everywhere. Current article is aimed to focus on the long-term perspective, establishing if innovation is considered to represent an essential component of growth and sustainable development and an asset of exceptional results and value creation.
