Inserlab -Pathways to Inclusion through Work-integrated Learning

Abstract:

Access to education is essential for young people’s employability, especially for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities who face greater social and labour exclusion. However, higher education is often inaccessible for them. This article presents an educational program at a higher education level that aims to reduce these inequalities. Emphasizing the importance of life-long learning, the program considers the social prejudices, individual interests and motivations of the participants, and adopts a work-integrated learning approach in the curriculum design.
