Abstract:

Transport and logistics are one of the key areas of the economy of many countries, representing a type of bloodstream connecting individual participants in the exchange of goods. Due to the significance of the logistics industry, a lot of emphasis is placed on its analysis, examining various angles of effectiveness. From the point of view of implementation of long-term goals of businesses, organizational and economic efficiency seem to be of key importance. Performing analyzes from the perspective of organization's interior, while having access to a full range of data, allows for drawing comprehensive and reliable conclusions. External stakeholders with only limited scope of data are in a much more difficult position. Research proves that in order to obtain a complete and reliable picture of the economic situation of an enterprise, it is necessary to analyze both financial and operational data. In the available studies, the authors focus on financial data or on operational area on the basis of process data - however, there are no studies that represent interdisciplinary approach to evaluation of enterprises. The aim of this study is to answer the question on the possibility of using publicly available data on entities from the logistics industry operating on the Polish market to draw conclusions on the effectiveness of their operations.
