Intellectual Capital, Business Cyclicality and Market Value of Firms

Abstract:

Our study aims to analyze the relationship between the market value of a company, its business cycle for "n" years and the intangible assets available to the organization. To achieve this objective of research, we reviewed some aspects known about the business cycle (both the microeconomic and macroeconomic perspective), and we emphasized the role played by knowledge in the total amount of companies. The knowledge society and / or the knowledge economy is nowadays a reporting vector especially important for business organizations. Intangible assets of a company are those that determine in an increasing measure the market value of the firm. Acquisition and processing of new knowledge, while organizational learning have become today major directions of action for all business organizations. New knowledge is transformed by all educated / skilled employees in inventions and innovations of various types that are subsequently recovered in all markets. In other words, knowledge has become today an essential resource for companies, but including this asset in the structure of accounting indicators reflects major difficulties in relation to methodological difficulties.
