Abstract:

The article presents the results of research conducted in one hundred Polish enterprises operating in various businesses. The research aimed to present the state of Polish enterprises in terms of preparing the enterprises to enter the world of the fourth industrial revolution. The conducted surveys on the use of modern technologies and the level of their advancement show that changes in the technological area are perceived as those that have a positive impact on functioning of the enterprise. This indicates a high level of awareness among companies regarding the need for improvement, innovation and the transition to advanced technological levels. The article focuses on one of the many elements of Industry 4.0 - the Internet of Things as one of the most important technologies of the new reality that can contribute to the improvement of processes in the enterprise and the creation of smart factories.
