Abstract:
Although they are currently in an early stage of developing, the smartwatch technologies began to be increasingly important and popular. In Romania, these are mainly noticed among young people or certain business people. The goal of this paper is to determine what are the factors behind the adoption of smartwatch technologies among young people. In this regard, starting from the TAM model, the authors proposed an extended model, which takes into account even the respondents' perception of the functions or advantages of using smartwatch devices. The research results highlighted the fact that enjoyment is a key factor that strongly influences the perceived usefulness, the intention to use a smartwatch, and also the attitude toward using the smartwatches. The respondents’ openness to experience turns out to be the variable that least influences the adoption of these smart devices.
