Abstract:

This study aims to investigate financial knowledge of Indonesian government officers and their financial literacy. These two variables usually have relationship where persons with good financial knowledge tends to have good financial behaviour. By distribute questionnaires to national and local government officers, we find that our respondents have low financial knowledge especially for investment terms such as stock, bond and mutual funds. Therefore, there are less government officers investing in capital market securities. We also find that most respondents only have TASPEN saving for their pension. They do not prepare other sources of income for their retirement life, suggesting that most of them have no pension budget/ plan.
