Iot Based Real-Time Drinking Water Quality Monitoring System Initiative For Indonesian Smart Cities

Abstract:

The most important aspect for all living organisms is water and it is critical to preserve the drinking water. Due to the intensity of urbanization and industrialization, the main cities population is rapidly increasing. Urbanization, in most cases, causes environmental degradation, especially drinking water quality that harms human health in developing countries, such as Indonesia. The drinking water quality monitoring is fundamental step for protection of water resources. Therefore there is an imperative focus and effort of a better methodology for monitoring the water quality. The existing manual examination effort for drinking water quality testing is no longer efficient as it time consumption and not considered safe. To satisfy the drinking water requirement and water quality monitoring needs, in this paper we are proposing a low cost system for real time monitoring of the water quality approach based on IoT (Internet of Things). Designing this system will help to real-timely monitor the quality of drinking water in some main cities in Indonesia. The real-time data capture, analyses and fast dissemination of information will be made accessible to relevant stakeholders for making timely and informed decisions.
