IT Support for Waste Collection Scheduling in Smart Cities: Enhancing Efficiency and Sustainability

Abstract:

The paper explores the development of optimization algorithms specifically aimed at generating waste collection schedules in smart cities in Poland. By addressing the complexities of waste collection logistics — such as varying collection points and traffic patterns — our research integrates innovative algorithms to optimize scheduling processes while maintaining sustainability principles. Additionally, we present PLANIQA, a software solution designed to assist municipalities in effective waste management, allowing for real-time adjustments and improved operational efficiency.
