Exploratory Study of Artificial Intelligence Based Hiring: Job Applicants’ Perspective

Abstract:

The AI is being used in many different shapes and forms within the HR context; one of the applications of AI is that today we can program machines to distinguish job candidates who would be a good match for the company among thousands of candidates; at least, this is the intention of AI technology. Advantages of applying AI in HR are numerous, yet we must carefully evaluate and observe other, often controversial, aspects of this technology. In this research we addressed some key questions and principles that may significantly shape HR practices in the near future and influence how the workforce interacts with companies. Our research shows that this process ought to be rolled out prudently and with high level of ethical standards so that confidence, and perception of fairness among job applicants are not compromised. Findings presented in our research are suggesting that job applicants are still far from trusting AI driven hiring practices, and that companies must understand the root causes of such views revealed in our study.
