Job Stress and Cashier Performance; Does it Matter?

Abstract:

Job stress is a condition in which individual mentally and physically unstable. It is an undeniable fact that cashiers stay long hours and work under pressure with low pay which ultimately left them under stress. The purpose of this study is to check the impact of job stress on cashiers’ performance. In order to analyze the impact of job stress on cashiers' performance 240 cashiers were selected as respondents. Data was collected through structured questionnaire by using convenient sampling in 2017. Multiple Regression was used to analyze the data. Results found that there is a negative impact of job stress on cashiers' performance. Low pay was another factor contributing more in stress which results in low performance of cashier. Management should make strategy related to job stress to improve monotonous nature of work and pay which highly effects on cashiers' performance.
