Abstract:

Universities continue to offer courses, workshops, activities, seminars and events for students to attend during their free time. “Events” is the term used throughout the study to refer to courses, seminars, activities, workshops, trips, etc. King Abdulaziz University-Rabigh branch advertise these events via students’ university email which is neglected by most students, or advertises these events on small papers or screens located on walls of some buildings, where most students are not aware of these events. The ads usually include events held on-campus, off-campus or in other university branches if available.

A survey was distributed to students in King Abdulaziz University Rabigh branch and results showed that 85.7% think that university events are important but 68.4% faced difficulties being informed about university events. As a solution, 74.5% preferred to have a website for university events to solve this issue. The website is developed to manage events considering the student’s requirement using the open source technology.
