Key Performance Indicators Process of Project Prioritisation Management

Abstract:

Strategic company plans are more frequently realised in the form of strategic projects. Especially regarding the evaluation of strategic projects – project portfolio management is new territory for a lot of companies. As main focus of the paper an ideal type of evaluation and prioritisation process of projects is drafted. In the business practice, strategic plans are more frequently realised in the form of strategic projects. Due to the increasing number of projects, the various projects compete for the tight resources more fiercely, which results in complex interdependencies between the projects. Especially regarding the evaluation of strategic projects – and their contribution to the strategic business goals – project portfolio management is a new territory for a lot of companies. Therefore is the first step in this paper definition of basics in topic for understanding. Secondly key figures of portfolio controlling are described and several methods of project prioritisation are considered and discussed. Thirdly an ideal type of evaluation and prioritisation process of projects is drafted.
