KM Performance Outcomes for Institutions of Higher Learning: An Empirical Assessment

Abstract:

This research attempts to empirically analyse and compare the knowledge management (KM) performance outcomes between public and private universities which have received very little attention to date. Based on the data collected from 594 academics from three public and three private universities in Malaysia, the factor analysis results confirm the theoretical findings in literature with respect to the KM performance outcomes. The paired t-test results reveal a significant difference between private and public universities with regards to all the KM performance outcomes. Recommendations are provided on how institutions of higher learning (IHLs) in general can implement KM effectively from the outcomes perspective.
