Knowledge Manipulation Skills and Competitive Advantage: A Framework for Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Malaysia Companies

Abstract:

Shifting from production-based to knowledge-based economy, government encouragements, implementation and rapid growth of Information and Communications Technology [ICT] and achieving business targets have made understanding of knowledge manipulation skills [KMSkills] for competitive advantage [CA] a key requirement across contemporary businesses. However, not only are there limited physical number of knowledge management [KM] studies and limited scope of KM research conducted, the empirical link between KMSkills and CA in Malaysia is also limited. Hence, a framework of KMSkills and CA is timely and imperative to address the relationships of the two constructs.  This research will offer the target companies, the MSC Malaysia companies useful information for future business success. To academics, the empirical insights from this study would add to the theoretical development of the two constructs. This could lead to a better understanding of the relationship between KMSkills and CA. Based on the findings, a KM model will be developed to enhance both practical and theoretical advancement in KM researches.
