Abstract:
Organizations often face many challenges to successfully transfer knowledge when they implement IT backsourcing strategy. Among the challenges are the nonexistence of internal IT personnel, the complexity of IT-business knowledge, and the reluctance of vendor’s employees in sharing knowledge. Nonetheless, many organizations still choose to backsource as they recognize the value of having internal IT knowledge and IT capabilities. This paper focuses on identifying a set of effective knowledge transfer strategy in total IT backsourcing. It highlights successful trajectories adopted by the participating organization. Experiences learned from the case presented here serve as exemplary guidelines for those intending to implement total IT backsourcing.
