Abstract:
Criteria to define team effectiveness have changed over the past decade to include many different forms and combinations. One of the very important dimensions of team’s effectiveness is the team viability. It is conditioned by many factors, one of which is the competence of the team leader. One of the very important dimensions of team’s effectiveness is the team viability. It is conditioned by many factors, one of which is the competence of the team leader. The purpose of the article is to present the role of the leader in building team vitality in Polish organizations and to identify his attitudes and behaviours that pose a threat / support to team viability. This article presents only a fragment of a more extensive research devoted to team viability in Polish organizations. The motivation to develop this area resulted in pilot study which was conducted by the authors in the 3rd quarter of 2018. Through this the authors identified that according to the interviewed representatives of teams in Polish organizations this is the team leader who plays a vital role in shaping the teams viability.
