Abstract:

The paper presents the Wise Commander - Leader model (in Polish: Mądry Dowódca - Lider – MDL) justified by modern command conditions: i.e. the pattern of preferred command systems, conduction systems, necessary competences, as well as functions and behaviors of a modern commander. The model should be a pattern for shaping and developing leadership competences in the army. The pattern of this process was also developed as a model for shaping and developing leadership competences – as a practical recommendation to reach the pattern of Wise Commander - Leader (MDL). The paper also presents, discussing the experience and achievements of a military academy in this field, shaping and developing leadership competences for the needs of the contemporary army.
