Leadership for Innovation: Bridging the Gap between Theory and Business Reality

Abstract:

This article focuses on a hermeneutic exploration of the competencies required by leaders for innovation and the available pathways for innovative practices. Simultaneously, it presents an overview of the managerial reality derived from a qualitative descriptive approach to managerial practices and innovation. The study engaged 118 executives from various companies and sectors in Colombia. Finally, theoretical developments are contrasted with business reality, and recommendations are made regarding opportunities and approaches that could contribute to business schools.
