Abstract:
Leadership is exceedingly important and highly esteemed commodity. It is basically the ability to make and shape attitudes and behavior of other persons. It is the process of persuading others to mobilize and direct their efforts towards attaining specific goals and objectives. Literature has provided plethora of classifications and styles of leadership followed by different individuals to persuade subordinates. This article has discussed the leadership styles named as transformational, laisser-faire and transactional with unique set of characteristics. Conflict is an essential part of any organization yet its resolution is also important to take place for smooth operations and conducive environment. Conflict management is one of the key qualities of a leader. Different leaders have different styles of managing conflicts. Four dimensions of conflict resolution are discussed named as integrating, obliging,compromising, dominating and avoiding. The article has presented different styles of conflict resolution found to be associated with different leadership styles by various researchers.
