Legislation on Drug Offences in the Visegrad Group Countries

Abstract:

Drug market evolves rapidly. There is dramatic increase in the number of new synthetic substances present on the market. The direct impact of this development is to be found in the number of fatal drug overdoses. Drug production and consumption are also on the rise in the Visegrad countries. It should be sought to look for mutual new innovative solutions in the term of international prevention to combat against this form of crime. In the context of natural globalization and easy access to the Internet, the proportion of drug-related offenses is increasing, especially via the Internet. Moreover, drugs purchased online can be transported across Europe and delivered anywhere in the world. The importance of strong legislation criminalizing possession of drug and other addictive substances is needed. The authors introduce a part of dissertation theme which is being researched at present and which deals with drug crime in Visegrad countries.
