Abstract:
The objective of this article is to introduce the problems of corruption, across its definitions and its different perceptions by being based on certain economic theories, while stressing the specific mailmen at the origin of the spread of this practice in the Arab countries. Besides, this article shows as well as poverty, illiteracy, weakness of incomes, the governance poor, the absence of strong institutions and State of right and democracy in general, the existence of a rent economy, besides the impact of socio-cultural beliefs and practices in the Arab countries are the main reasons aggravating this blight in this region. On the other hand, and from an empirical study based on the data of panel over period 2005-2010, this article shows that really it exists a statically significant relation between on one hand the development of corruption measured by the corruption index perception and on the other hand gross national income, the rate of literacy, the inflation rate and the freedom of the press.
