Leveraging ICT Investments in Banks: A Theoretical Model

Abstract:

Growth in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has created number of opportunities in different sectors. Banking is one of the areas where its usage has been explored. ICT consists of hardware, software, and communication channel. The banking industry is trying to implement banking products through different channels such as online banking, e-banking, m-banking etc. But the industry is still facing challenges which have been found affecting the adoption and usage of these innovative products. This study relates to assess the factors that are critical for enabling ICT investments in banking sector . The review of existing literature has revealed many factors, that can be classified based on the technology-organization-environment (TOE) model. These factors need to be considered by the policy makers for successful ICT implementation in the banking sectors of a country.
