Library Therapeutic Concepts to Promote Children’s Well Being

Abstract:

Realizing the importance and contribution of reading towards the nation’s well-being, many public libraries, schools, rehabilitation center with collaboration with libraries and counsellors have started to include bibliotherapeutic element as one of the criteria that need to be acquired and exercised so the students, community users get benefit from it. The main objective of this paper is to highlight the conceptual research framework of exploring the library therapeutic elements that employed in the Malaysia public libraries and how the initiatives be able to nurture children’s well-being. Adopting a mixed- method approach, the conduct of the study can be divided into two phases. The first phase employed a qualitative approach with interviews as data collection methods while the second phase used a quantitative approach with questionnaires as the research instrument. A Series of semi-structured and focused-group conducted to capture the qualitative insight of the bibliotherapy. The study attempts to provide a conceptual framework for understanding the adoption of library therapeutic concept in context of children’s well-being. (Font:11)
