Logistics 5.0 As A Response to The Needs of Industry 5.0

Abstract:

Today's economic challenges, driven by increasing customer demands for customised products and short delivery times, are driving companies to seek new forms of production and logistics. The concepts of Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0, which aim to increase the productivity and resilience of systems, play a key role in this transformation. In response to these needs, the concept of Logistics 5.0 has evolved, aiming to optimise logistics systems for delivery reliability, flexibility, agility, and resilience. Logistics 5.0 must meet the conditions of humancentredness, sustainability, automation of logistics operations and optimisation of system reliability and security. In warehouse management, the potential of Logistics 5.0 manifests itself in the use of innovative solutions such as smart pallets equipped with sensors, automatic event identification systems based on image analysis and artificial intelligence, smart shelves for stock monitoring and optimised picking systems using advanced algorithms and semiautomated forklift control. The implementation of these concepts aims to increase the resilience and sustainability of logistics processes while providing a higher level of cyber security. The article characterises the evolution of the logistics concept and describes examples and potential applications of modern technologies in warehouse management based on the concept of Logistics 5.0.Â
