The service industry is the basis of the economy in the European Union in terms of its share in GDP and the employment rate. The said fact makes the service industry attractive to investors, which results in growing competition within it. One of the key factors of company success is logistics. Properly performed logistics activities guarantee the achievement of a high level of customer service. At the same time, however, they generate high operating costs. The described trade-off relationship is known in the manufacturing industry and has been an object of scientific research for years. However, the author noticed a research gap related to this question in the area of logistics in the service industry. The aim of this article is to present selected results of research on the logistics maturity of service enterprises.  An original LMM4SI model was used to assess the logistics maturity of the service industry. Research methods applied in the presented study include surveys used to obtain primary data from 2,000 Polish service enterprises, mathematical analysis used to determine the level of logistics maturity and statistical analysis which allowed to draw conclusions about the logistics maturity of the Polish service industry.
