Management of Covid-19 Pandemic and 2020 Hajj Pilgrimage

Abstract:

On December 12, 2019, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), an acute respiratory syndrome was discovered in Wuhan, Hubei Province in China (Alandijany, Faizo and Azhar, 2020). By March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO), pronounced COVID-19 as a global pandemic (Alandijany et al, 2020). Generally, the identified symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, fever, headache, fatigue and shortness of breath (Anjorin, 2020). Nations, scientists and pharmaceutical companies are working assiduously in discovering vaccines that can cure the highly transmittable disease. As at August 13, 2020, COVID-19 pandemic has caused over 749,000 deaths, while over 20 million people have been infected in 188 countries (Al Jazeera, August 13, 2020). It must be noted that as at August 13, 2020, over 12 million people have recovered from the coronavirus (Al Jazeera, August 13, 2020).
