Abstract:
About 5 million inhabitants of the Slovak Republic have more than 2,300 pharmacies at the end of 2019. However, the operation of pharmacies requires a great deal of management, because the criteria under which it is possible to operate pharmacies are very strict. The current time has brought several legislative changes in the Act on Medicines. This has a direct impact on tightening the conditions of operation of pharmacies. The aim of the paper is to examine the current possibilities of operating pharmacies in the Slovak Republic. To achieve this goal, we are using several scientific research methods such as analysis, synthesis, description, comparison. Using these methods, we will review legislation and scientific literature in this area. The result of our research will be new knowledge in the field of pharmacy management. Another result of our contribution is going to be an answer to the research question whether the new legislation is sufficient.
