Abstract:
The mass media are information disseminators of topical issues in any given society. The rising numbers of pregnant women and nursing mothers dying, across the globe, is a societal issue that calls for media attention hence, the necessity for an assessment of the mass media in relation to maternal health enlightenment. This study made use of survey with the aims of: determining the relationship between the use of mass media information and maternal health attitude; assessing the influence of maternal health knowledge on pregnant women’s disposition towards maternal health; and establishing the impact that access to maternal health information has on maternal health perception. Results show a high Cronbach coefficient for all analytical constructs and a significant level of internal consistency of the questionnaire used as the research instrument to undertake the study.
