Mathematical Problem Solving Proposed by Polya: An Application and Implications in a Virtual Learning Context during Covid-19 in Primary School Students

Abstract:

The effectiveness of the mathematical problem solving application proposed by Polya is studied in a virtual learning context caused by the COVID-19 disease, also investigating the importance of the role of parents and/or guardians in class sessions. Through a pre-test and post-test applied to 50 students of 2nd grade of regular basic education - primary, the effective-ness of the application of the Polya method is known, through the T statistic for related samples, it was found that there is a significant difference between the application of the aforementioned method and its non-application. Additionally, it was shown that students whose parents have guided them in the development of classes have higher academic performance; contrary to it.
