Maturity Model for Virtual Education

Abstract:

The implementation of programs with virtual methodology, demands the definition of evaluation and quality criteria that guarantee its development. In this sense the present article evidence the implementation of a maturity model, that allows the establishment of quality criteria and improvement plans for the programs of the mentioned methodology. For the proposal development and the model creation, a bibliographic revision surrounding the topic is done, key criteria was identified for the different levels of maturity such as: organization and infrastructure, technology and support, curricular content and student learning, and to each criteria was defined five levels of maturity with its respective attributes. To validate this model the case of the academic program of post-grade in the Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas the Master´s degree in Mobile Telecommunications is studied, where is possible to establish how the maturity criteria allows the program to define improvement strategies. The present investigation is looking for development in the new maturity criteria to form clear orientation to the institutions creating programs using the mentioned methodology.
