Abstract:
Based on the Business Ecosystem Identity (BEI) construct, this article presents some methodological challenges in business ecosystems research. Concentration on a single case for illustrative purposes was significant from the point of view of specifying the methodological side of the business ecosystem identity construct and for the proposal for its operationalisation. The research focuses on the methodological issues as follows: indicating the purposefulness of using the case study and primary and/or secondary data sources, specifying the criteria for distinguishing the business ecosystem as a research subject, choosing the proper level of analysis, proper group of respondents and finally, showing the possibilities of measuring the research categories of BEI construct and business ecosystem at last.
