Methods of industrial engineering used in network organizations

Abstract:

The theme of this paper is the distribution of selected methods and methodologies in industrial engineering so as to obtain a recommendation of which methods are appropriate (or suitable only partially) for use within business cooperation in network organizations (e.g. in clusters). The paper does not describe all the known methods (and methodologies) used in industrial engineering (it is not possible in the scope of this article), and neither is it the main task of this paper. Primarily, methods are selected that relate to production management. A proposal is given here for a possible overview of this issue, knowing that deeper investigation is needed to perform a further analysis and evaluation. The paper aims to point out that if a network organization is created, the individual companies within the organization must think as a network, and the principles of the individual methods described in this paper should help them to do this. Since the principles of the methods and methodologies are generally known, they are only briefly outlined. Then a table is given which highlights which methods are suitable for network organizations, which are only partially suitable and which are not at all suitable. The table is supplemented with comments.
