Methods to Improve the Effectiveness of Training Engineers for the Digital Economy

Abstract:

The unique features of digital and network technologies bring forward the trend of using distance-learning techniques. These circumstances along with transformation of contact hours entail an increased role of the teacher in professional training of engineers. The progressive teacher should master such means and techniques of interaction with students that will eliminate the deficit of face-to-face communication occurred in distance learning; create impulses of inspiration and activity; ensure a steady interest in technical innovation and creativity. The article focuses on the peculiarities of training engineers. Based on these peculiarities we suggest and develop three methods to improve the effectiveness of educational process:

  1. a) increasing the emotional component when transferring information;
  2. b) presenting information in structural and logical manner;
  3. c) using cascade training.

These methods are described below and considered from both theoretical and practical points of view. In particular, the authors describe the algorithm to apply the considered methods to educational process, as well as the features and role of these methods in training future engineers. The paper presents findings from the authors’ experience applying these methods to educational programs for engineers and proves their availability for training this category of specialists for the "Industry 4.0".
