Abstract:
In recent years, considerable attention has been devoted to the exigency of sustaining the attentiveness of children and adult learners in formal school settings and in informal educational environments. The research project described in this paper aims to present the pedagogical opportunities offered by including Mindtoyness teaching sets in the educational work with children and adults. The Mindtoyness collection is informed by the idea that, for such work with children and adults to be effective, learning environments should combine elements of play, collaboration, and the development of mindfulness, resourcefulness, and sensitivity. The inclusion of play and free exploration in didactic interventions for children and adults with disabilities is expected to support and naturally sustain their involvement and cognitive activity.
