Mobile Applications in the Tourism Sector: User-Tailored Experiences

Abstract:

Mobile applications have accompanied the growth of the tourism industry as they have as a goal the creation of a better travel experience for the user. These applications allow the user to explore the desired locations through the delivery of information, which passes through the presentation of the places that must be visited, suggestion of routes to be carried out, local accommodation suggestions, local restaurants suggestions, among other types of information. To identify the components that the mobile applications should take into account in order to offer a better service and customer experience to the user, were reviewed thirteen applications, chosen at random, based on the dimensions of Compatibility, Ease of Use, Relative Advantage, Usability, Functionality, Portability, Utilitarianism, Hedonism and Social. The application “Gerês Holidays” was the one that obtained in general better rankings, since it was the one that created a user visiting experience taking into account the environment entered (Gerês). The same offers detailed information about the region, helping the user to know deeply the place.
