Abstract:

Competence and competency models are of interest to both management theorists and managers. This study presents the results of expert opinion survey referring to the importance of the competences expected of business graduates in Poland. The study made use of a proprietary competency model based on a division into hard and soft competences. The gathered responses made it possible to identify differences in the way the importance of graduates' competences were assessed from the point of view of both managers and academic staff. Both these surveyed groups regarded soft skills as more important than hard skills.
