Abstract:
Taking the right decision in emergency situations is very critical because any wrong decision in such circumstances can lead to disastrous consequences. Emergency situations are often characterized by high level of stress. Since stress is known to affect decision making adversely as it clouds rational thinking, it becomes very important to study decision making under stressful emergency situations. However, high level of stress may not adversely affect decision making and performance of individuals who are highly resilient. On the basis previous literature and logical arguments, this study proposes a conceptual framework the decision-making styles may be affected by the level of stress experienced in emergency situations and such relationship may be moderated by the resilience that an individual has.
